Over twenty-three million Americans have a substance abuse problem.  Eighty-four percent do not have access to the addiction treatment they need. And of the 16% that seek treatment, 87% receive those services on an outpatient basis.
Gulf Coast Addiction Medicine, LLC is committed to closing this treatment gap in Panama City and the surrounding Florida Panhandle.  We strive to increase access to quality outpatient addiction and related behavioral health treatment during day and evening hours.
To meet this goal we offer the following Programs and Services:

Screening & Assessment

Drug and Alcohol Assessment

Screening and Assessment – Gulf Coast Addiction Medicine will perform screening services on a walk-in basis and comprehensive Mental Health and Substance Use evaluations by appointment.

Access staff will also perform off site evaluations (jail, hospital, etc) in Panama City and the surrounding area, with appropriate prior scheduling.  Expert testimony based on evaluation is also available with appropriate notice.

Intensive Outpatient Process

72 hours intensive group experience focused on the principles of cognitive behavioral therapy, psycho educational, life skills training, relapse prevention, and Twelve Step/Mutual Support principles.

We also educate, as well as recommend participation in All Addicts Anonymous, SMART Recovery, The Most Excellent Way, and Celebrate Recovery for those individuals who do not wish to participate in 12 step recovery.

Our staff of Licensed Clinical Social Workers and Certified Addictions Professionals have extensive experience treating substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders such as Depression, Anxiety, Chronic Pain, etc. We offer comprehensive solutions for these complex conditions.

asam1Our Medical Director, Mark Stavros, M.D., diplomate American Board of Addiction Medicine, has extensive experience in pharmacological treatments for dually diagnosed patients. Gulf Coast Addiction Medicine staff is also happy to work with your existing medical provider for medical management of your co-occurring disorder, so long as the appropriate HIPAA compliant releases are in place.

Our Intensive Outpatient Addiction Program meets four days a week for 2.25 hours each day (9 hours a week) for eight weeks at our Panama City location. This 72 hour intensive group experience focuses on the principles of cognitive behavioral and motivational enhancement therapy, didactic (classroom) presentations, life skills training, relapse prevention, and Twelve steps/Mutual Support activities. For those not interested in 12 Step Recovery, we also educate, as well as recommend participation in SMART Recovery, The Most Excellent Way, and Celebrate Recovery.

Adolescent Program

Access Recovery Solution’s Adolescent Outpatient Program is designed to provide supportive counseling to adolescents between the ages of 13 and 17 who have been identified as having issues related to the used of mind and mood altering substances and related behavioral health concerns.

The program components include: Assessment of presenting problem,  family assessment as indicated, initial urine drug screen, follow up random urinalysis and hair analysis if indicated, individual, group, family counseling, and multi-family counseling as well as scheduled pro-social activities.

The Gulf Coast Addiction Medicine staff will collaborate with all entities involved in the care of the adolescent to include their parents, school personnel, primary care doctor, psychiatrist, probation officer, judge, case manager, and any other accountability partners identified in the initial assessment.  In order to facilitate open communication and collaboration, appropriate HIPAA and CFR 42 compliant releases of information will be executed at the initial assessment.

Treatment plans will be developed based on the presenting problem, initial assessment and information from all accountability partners and collateral information sources.  Educational materials, group topics and pro-social activities will be age and developmentally appropriate designed to encourage pro-social activities, abstinence from mood and mind altering substances, educational advancement and good citizenship.

Outpatient Program

Addiction treatment

The qualified professional staff at Access also provide less than intensive counseling on an individual, group, or family basis.  We also include family members in one group per week with the patients as well as one group per week for family members without the patient to ensure that the family’s needs as well as the patient’s needs are addressed. Our family group aids loved ones in setting appropriate boundaries, educating them about substance dependence and outpatient addiction treatment to prevent any splitting or unintentional sabotage.

Aftercare

Gulf Coast Addiction Medicine is licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families to provide Aftercare Services.  We model our Aftercare program on cognitive behavioral principles and focus on Relapse Prevention.  Prior to admission to the Aftercare Program we require completion of an appropriate primary addiction treatment program (within the last 60 days).  A completion letter from your previous provider and an aftercare plan must be provided for admission.

Recovery Monitoring

External monitoring has shown to increase positive recovery outcomes by as much as 90%.  Our monitoring program utilized state of the art technology to develop an accountability partner relationship for all stages of recovery.

Interventions

Gulf Coast Addiction Intervention

Gulf Coast Addiction Medicine provides intervention services based on the Johnson Model where the participants meet with the interventionist to prepare for the intervention without the knowledge of the addicted person until the actual intervention.

Urine Drug Screening

Gulf Coast Addiction Medicine provides no-wait, random, for cause, pre-employment urine drug screening, hair/nail testing, and blood alcohol testing at our Panama City Location.

In-house instant screen testing or “Chain-of-Custody” test (including DOT) is available without the typical wait.

The clinical and administrative staff at Gulf Coast have over 50 years of program development, licensing, and safe and drug free workplace development experience and are available to assist you with licensing, accreditation preparation, and program development.

Speakers Bureau

Gulf Coast Addiction Medicine is determined to be a part of the solution to the drug and alcohol problem Addiction Treatment Speaking in our society, and more specifically Panama City and the Florida Panhandle.
